Haven Home Décor Ribbon Cutting in Historic Downtown Cohoes

–Yet Another New Business Opening in Cohoes Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic —
Cohoes, NY (November 17, 2020) – The City of Cohoes is celebrating the opening of yet another new business in its historic downtown, with a ribbon cutting for Haven Home Décor on Thursday, November 19, at 2 pm. This is the ninth new business to open in Cohoes in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the third business in Cohoes for proprietor Kelsey Knutsen.

This new home décor accessories and gift shop will occupy granted space at 130 Remsen, as part of an award offered by Cohoes entrepreneurs Daniel Oh of Capital Companies NY and Manny Santos of Go Gonzalez. In addition to rent-free space for a year, they are also providing fit-up of the space, and a professionally constructed website. This private sector support package, valued at an estimated $38,000, is designed to support emerging businesses that will contribute to the growth and revitalization of downtown Cohoes.

Haven will offer unique home décor, craft workshops such as painting, building terrariums, painted wooden signs and other creative ways to spruce up a home, according to Knutsen. In addition to Haven Home Décor, Knutsen is the owner of Café Monocle, opened at 95 Remsen Street in 2019, and The Local opened at 159 Remsen Street in September.

The ribbon cutting is in advance of “Small Business Saturday” festivities planned for downtown Cohoes on November 28th. More than 50 vendors and restaurants are scheduled to participate in the day’s events, sponsored by the City of Cohoes and the Cohoes Local Development Corporation.
