Local Businesses contributes to Cohoes redevelopment by awarding a grant
Cohoes, NY. October 13, 2020 – In a time when businesses are closing and redevelopment grants have dried up, Capital Companies NY & Go Gonzalez, have awarded a free-rent and technology grant to a local business. The awardee of the grant is Kelsey Knutsen. Her new endeavor, Haven Home Décor; a creative retail business that offers a selection of carefully curated home décor accessories and gifts will occupy the granted space at 130 Remsen Street in Cohoes, NY.
“After careful consideration of the applications for this grant, we felt that the addition of a retail store makes the most sense and Ms. Knutsen’s presentation offers a creative experience that can draw more consumers to Cohoes, said Daniel Oh of Capital Companies. In addition to unique home decor, Haven offers craft workshops such as painting, building terrariums, painted wooden signs, and other creative ways to spruce up a home.
“The ball is rolling”, says Manny Santos of Go Gonzalez, “Meetings have begun to fulfill the Technology grant. We have seen much progress in Cohoes, and we need that momentum to continue”. The launch date for Haven Home Décor is November 11, 2020. The value of the grant is estimated to be $38,000. It includes free rent for one year and a professionally constructed, optimized, and ADA compliant website. This grant offsets the expensive costs of build-out and saves the awardee time, which is critical in establishing a new business venture.
